1,500 Unlicensed Quran Copies Seized in Cairo

IQNA – Security forces in Cairo, Egypt, sealed off an unlicensed bookstore in the Darb al-Ahmar area of ​​the city on the grounds that its owners were distributing and selling copies of the Holy Quran without obtaining the necessary permits.

Those selling copies of the Quran need to get permits from the related authorities and failing to do so is contrary to the law.

Information and investigations conducted by the General Directorate of Copyright and Intellectual Property Rights Protection in the Specialized Police Department of Cairo confirmed that the owner of a bookstore located in the Darb al-Ahmar police district was illegally selling and distributing copies of the Holy Quran without a permit.

Security forces arrived at the bookstore and arrested its manager and found 1,500 copies of the Holy Quran without any official permit or license in the place.

After being confronted with the evidence, the owner confessed that he had committed the offense by gaining illegal profits.

The necessary legal procedures were carried out and the competent authorities directly took charge of the investigation.

On the other hand, the General Directorate of Copyright Investigation and Intellectual Property Rights Protection arrested the manager of an unlicensed printing house in the Abedin police district. The arrest was made after he was found to have printed several commercial publications without the permission of the competent authorities.

The investigation revealed that the printing house had been producing more than 10,000 commercial publications in violation of intellectual property rights laws and with the aim of making illegal profits.
