Lebanese Officials Urged to End Farce of Direct Talks with Zionists
In a statement on Thursday on the anniversary of Imam Khomeini’s (RA) passing, Sheikh Naim Qassem urged the officials of Lebanon to stop the talks with the Israeli regime so that theu may be stronger with the rallying of all the Lebanese people “around the option of a sovereign state under your leadership, to which the enemies will inevitably submit”.
Sheikh Qassem dismissed the idea of ending resistance, saying, “We have not given anyone a commitment not to resist aggression and to respond to its aggression. As long as the aggression continues, we will confront it with all our might, and we will strike it where we decide and are able. As long as our villages are unsafe, bombed, destroyed, and our people are killed, the settlements will not be safe.”
He also said, “The ceasefire must be comprehensive, with no separation between the south and the rest of Lebanon, and no freedom for the Israeli enemy to kill in Lebanon. As long as the occupation exists, the resistance continues.”
The Hezbollah chief noted that “the result of the absurd, humiliating, and disgraceful direct negotiations for Lebanon – which are categorically rejected by wide segments of the Lebanese people – has been the Washington announcement that outlines the basic principles that America and Israel see for Lebanon's submission to the Greater Israel project.”
He continued, “Making the primary goal the disarmament of the resistance as a starting point for any agreement means abolishing Lebanon's strength, an existential threat to the annihilation of its resistant people, and a declaration of sabotaging Lebanon, its instability, and causing discord among the Lebanese in Israel's interest.”
He affirmed that Israel will not achieve through politics what it does not achieve through war.
Sheikh Qassem said the Washington announcement is a roadmap for the annihilation of part of the Lebanese people and the enslavement of the rest.
“Making the security track under the slogan of a false ceasefire, interpreting it as Hezbollah ceasing fire, leaving the resistance fighters out of the southern arena, while the aggression continues, under military pressure, is surrender, defeat, and the achievement of the enemy's goals – it is like Satan's dream of entering paradise.”

He reiterated, “We are only concerned with stopping the comprehensive aggression, with a ceasefire and the withdrawal of 'Israel'.”
Elsewhere in his remarks, Sheikh Qassem thanked Iran “because it helps us to regain our land and our right in the face of Israeli-American aggression, despite its major confrontations, and it is confronting to establish the cessation of aggression and a comprehensive ceasefire in Lebanon as part of stopping the aggression on Iran.”
