
This plan is being implemented in line with the guidelines of Ahmed Al-Tayeb, the Sheikh of Al-Azhar, in supporting Quran memorization centers and strengthening their role in serving the Book of God, and preparing for the summer Quranic activities that have been widely welcomed in Maktabs and Quran memorization circles in various provinces.
The program, headed by Ahmed Al-Sharkawi, head of the Al-Azhar Institutions Department, and under the supervision of Sheikh Ayman Abdel Ghani, Deputy Grand Mufti of Al-Azhar, began on June 20, in Luxor province of Egypt.
The plan will continue today in Qena province, then expand tomorrow, Monday, to the provinces of Sohag, Assyut and Minya, and will continue to be implemented in other provinces of Egypt.
This special project is under the supervision of Al-Azhar throughout Egypt and provides the necessary Quran copies to Quran learners and memorization circles.
Abu Yazid Salameh, one of the project’s executive officials, said the distribution process is based on an assessment of the real needs in each province, thus helping to meet the needs of the Quran memorization centers.
Sheikh Ayman Abdel Ghani, Al-Azhar’s deputy, also said this project is part of Al-Azhar’s strategy to care for the Quran and Quranic activists, and it helps to cultivate a more informed and stable society.

Ahmed Al-Sharkawi, meanwhile, emphasized that the department pays special attention to the Quranic summer activities, because these activities are an important opportunity for young people to benefit from their free time in the field of memorizing the Quran, learning Quranic rules and etiquette, and institutionalizing moral and national values derived from the teachings of the Word of Revelation.
