Beirut Agreement with Israeli Regime Has No Legitimacy, Senior Cleric Says
Sheikh Ahmed Qabalan warned in a statement that the agreement between the Lebanese government and terrorist Israeli regime, mediated by the United States, is the worst national disaster in Lebanese history and has no legitimacy, Al-Ahed News reported.
He added that the current Lebanese government represents only itself and not the Lebanese people.
The dangerous issue is that this framework agreement effectively grants the Israeli terrorist army a kind of guardianship over the operation of the Lebanese army and the occupied territories of Lebanon, and implicitly recognizes Israeli sovereignty over the areas it has occupied, he deplored.
Sheikh Qabalan also called what is taking place behind the scenes of the Washington negotiations between the Lebanese government and the Israeli regime “a disaster after a disaster”.
“We will never accept its implementation in reality,” he reiterated.
The senior cleric stated that those who have prevented the Lebanese army from defending the country are in fact seeking to sacrifice the army through this national disaster.

“The current government has put Lebanon in a black box (of ambiguity and secrecy) and has handed the key to the country's sovereignty to Washington and Tel Aviv,” he said.
He concluded by saying that regardless of the price of this shameful deal, this plan will never be realized.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio previously claimed that following talks in Washington, the Israeli regime and Lebanon had reached a framework agreement.
