New Quran Academy Launched in Yemen
This academy and religious studies school, which is a branch of the Yemeni Holy Quran College, was launched in the Ammar bin Yasser Mosque located in the Wald Rabi' district, and its opening ceremony coincided with the anniversary of the martyrdom of Imam Zayd bin Ali (AS), Al-Thawra website reported.
In the ceremony, which was held in the presence of Abdul Salam Al-Nusiri and Nasser Al-Aji, deputy governors of the province, the importance of this new educational institution in serving the Quran and teaching Quranic sciences was emphasized.
The speakers also stated that these centers play a significant role in training prominent religious scholars and missionaries in Yemen, and such measures will help expand religious awareness and promote Islamic values at the community level.
They stressed that the inauguration of this academy and school represents a commitment to Quranic and religious education, as well as an effort to draw inspiration from the values promoted by Zayd ibn Ali (AS), especially in the field of adherence to the Quran and Islamic principles.
The attendees, while appreciating the efforts of those involved and supporters of launching this educational project, emphasized its vital role in raising generations of people with religious and beneficial knowledge who are able to serve society.
The ceremony included various sections to explain the status of the Quran and its role in shaping the individual and society.
Zayd bin Ali bin Al-Hussein (AS), the son of Imam Sajjad (AS), is a distinguished figure in Shia and the Islamic world. He has been described as the "Halif Al-Quran" (allied with the Quran) due to his great familiarity with the Quran.
In 121 AH, Zayd bin Ali rrose up against the Umayyad Caliph, Hisham ibn Abdul Malik, and a group pledged allegiance to him. He was martyred in a battle that took place in the city of Kufa between him and the Caliph’s army.
