Quranic Conference Held in Albania’s Shkoder
The Al-Rasas Mosque in Shkoder hosted the conference, the Muslimsaroundtheworld website reported.
The conference examined and explained the role and contribution of Albanian researchers in Quranic sciences.
It was attended by Farid Biko, the author of the book, and Sheikh Muhammad Sutari, the Mufti of Shkoder, along with a group of scholars, researchers, students of religious sciences, and those interested in Islamic heritage.
These efforts are of particular importance in Albania, where Muslims constitute nearly 70 percent of the population, along with 20 percent Catholics and 10 percent Orthodox Christians.
Islamic institutions in the country continue to support scientific initiatives that raise awareness of the intellectual and scientific heritage of the Muslim community.
In his speech at the Shkoder meeting, Sheikh Muhammad Sutari appreciated the author’s scientific efforts in documenting aspects of the Ottoman heritage and highlighting the place and role of Albanian scholars in enriching the Islamic scientific movement.

He also emphasized the importance of research based on historical documents and sources to correct many common misconceptions about the Ottoman heritage.
The ceremony ended with the presentation of copies of the book to the attendees.
Sheikh Muhammad Sutari also honored Farid Biko by presenting him with a valuable piece of the legacy of Davud Efendi Burici, an act that shows the appreciation of the Shkoder Dar al-Ifta for the scientific efforts made to preserve Islamic memory and safeguard the cultural heritage of the Muslim Ummah.
Such events show that the mission of Islamic institutions in Albania goes beyond religious affairs, and that these institutions play an important role in supporting scientific research, connecting new generations with their civilizational history, and raising awareness about the scientific contribution of Albanian scholars to Islamic civilization.
