Ayatollah Sheikh Issa Qassem made the remark on December 13, while delivering his Friday prayers sermons at Ima Sadeq (AS) Mosque in Manama, adding that introducing all-out reforms is necessary in Bahrain.
He said Bahrain is suffering from a stifling political crisis and the only solution to this crisis is conducting reforms.
Ayatollah Qassem said this necessity has been stressed even by countries that support the Al Khalifa regime and also by the report of the fact-finding committee.
He said true reforms would prepare the country for moving toward national solidarity and unity and that would benefit the entire nation.
The senior Shia cleric noted that a relation based on trust between the nation and the government would ensure internal security and such trust requires that the government recognizes the nation’s rights and will.
He went on to say that the unity upheld by Islam is one that strengthens and promotes justice and confronts oppression and injustice.
