1797 Quran memorizers from the Quran memorization centers across the country will participate in the competition, Al-Arab newspaper reported.
It is hosted by the Islamic Sciences and Tabligh (propagation) center in Al-Wa’ab district, Sheikh Khalid Bin Muhammad Bin Ghanim Al Thani, head of the organizing committee said.
He noted that 1213 of the contestants are men and the rest (584) are women, adding that the women’s contest is held at Muza Bint Muhammad Quranic center while men will compete at the Islamic Sciences and Tabligh center in Al-Wa’ab.
Al Thani said the competition aims to encourage memorization and Tajweed recitation of the Quran and promote Quranic activities.
He added that the national competition is held in three categories of memorization of the Quran along with Tafsir (interpretation), memorization, and Tajweed recitation.
