Jordan’s Awqaf Ministry has invited 37 Arab and Islamic countries to send representatives to its international Quran competition.

The country’s 22nd International Holy Quran Competition is planned to be held during the holy month of Ramadan (August) in the categories of memorization, recitation and Tafsir (interpretation), Al-Dastur daily reported.

The ministry said those who are introduced by the invited countries to take part in the contest can attend only one of the categories.

It added that the participants should not be among the prominent and internationally-known Quran activists.

The women who partake in the women’s section of the international event are required to travel to Jordan with one of their male relatives, the ministry stated.

In last year’s international Quran contest in Jordan, Mohammad Khakpour represented the Islamic Republic of Iran in the category of recitation.
