“Haj; A Symbol of Islamic Unity” Seminar Held in Sri Lanka

A seminar titled “Haj; a symbol of Islamic unity” was organized by the Iranian Cultural Center in Colombo, Sri Lanka.


According to IQNA’s branch in East Asia, the program was attended by Hojat-ol-Islam Qazi Asgar, representative of the Supreme Leader in Haj affairs, Hasanipur, Iranian ambassador to Sri Lanka, Owhadi, head of Haj and Pilgrimage Organization and Baqeri, deputy of international affairs at the representative office of the Supreme Leader.

Fowzi, minister of Urban Development and Haj Affairs in Colombo, Zumail, head of Muslims Section of Religious Affairs and directors of Islamic foundations and 50 Haj caravan leaders in Sri Lanka also participated in the program.

Addressing the program, Fowzi said that the seminar has been held to promote Haj affairs and the Sri Lanka government is going to sign an agreement letter with the Islamic Republic in this respect.

Owhadi said that the organization is ready to exchange experiences with the caravan leaders and Haj officials in Sri Lanka.

Hamza Hanifa, head of Al-Islam Foundation, talked about distortion in Haj and stressed the necessity to revive the real philosophy of Haj.

Hojat-ol-Islam Qazi Asgar then talked about the role and status of Haj in the revival of Islamic life and clarified the concept of Haj philosophy in the contemporary world.
