“Bahar-e Velayat” Int’l Forum Underway in Iraq

The first edition of an Islamic international forum titled “Bahar-e Velayat” is being held from May 15 in Basra Province of Iraq.


According to Al-Furat News website, the forum has been organized on the occasion of birth anniversary of Imam Ali (AS) in cooperation with Basra governorate.

Al-Farahidi Hall of Sheraton International Hotel of the province hosts the event for two days.

Zia’ Al-Ebadi, advisor to the governor of Basra in religious affairs, said that the forum aims to establish and promote Islamic culture, the culture of coexistence and dialogue in the society.

Developing interactions among scholars and intellectuals of Iraq and other countries is another objective of the program which is also an attempt to help Basra to regain its scientific-Islamic status.

He added that in this program Iraqi Muslims announce their willingness for interacting with other nations and it is considered as an opportunity for foreign participants to see Basra and get acquainted with its culture, and history.

Al-Ebadi stated that representatives from 16 countries, namely Iran, Kuwait, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Australia, Algeria, Bahrain, Lebanon, Yemen, Turkey, Ghana, Kenya and Nigeria, are present at the forum.

He noted that the participants also attended a ceremony on the occasion of Imam Ali’s (AS) birth anniversary held at the Grand Mosque of Al-Zubair region on May 15.

A visit to the historical sites of Basra will be among the programs planned for the participants on the sidelines of t forum and eminent figures of the province will be honored.

The closing ceremony of the forum will be held at Al-Mousawi Grand Mosque of Basra.
