The opening ceremony was attended by a number of Quranic figures including Hojat-ol-Islam Ali Mohammadi, head of the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization and Hojat-ol-Islam Ahmad Abaedi, chancellor of the University of Quranic Sciences and Teachings.
Earlier, the secretariat of the conference had said it has received 700 papers by Iranian and foreign scholars.
Some 600 papers have been submitted to the conference secretariat by Iranian researchers and the rest are by scholars from 15 countries, it said.
The conference is held on the sidelines of the 31st International Holy Quran Competition of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
