A New Phase of Resistance: Hamas Highlights Shifting Dynamics in the West Bank
The growing pace of resistance operations across the occupied West Bank demonstrates the failure of the Israeli occupation’s attempts to subjugate the Palestinian people and deter them from defending their land and holy sites, Hamas stated on Saturday.
The statement came after a confrontation between Palestinians and Israeli settlers and occupation forces near Nablus on Friday killed two Israelis occupation soldiers: an Israeli officer who commanded a battery in Battalion 411 of the 282nd Fire Brigade in the occupation’s artillery corps and a soldier from Battalion 8119 of the 16th Jerusalem Brigade, according to Israeli media.
Four Palestinians were martyred and four others were wounded, including three critically, in the attack.
Hamas official Mahmoud Mardawi praised the steadfastness of Palestinians in the West Bank and their efforts to confront the escalating attacks carried out by Israeli occupation forces and settlers against residents and their property, most recently in villages surrounding Nablus, known as Jabal al-Nar.
“The notable rise in resistance operations in the West Bank, including stabbing and shooting attacks, as well as the bravery of the revolutionary youth and the residents of steadfast villages in confronting settler gangs, is evidence of the failure of the occupation’s attempts to subjugate our proud people, break their will, or deter them from defending their land and holy sites and preserving their dignity,” Mardawi said.
Mardawi said the success of recent operations in killing and wounding Israeli occupation soldiers and settlers indicated that resistance in the West Bank was entering a new phase.
He described the developments as “a genuine indication that the volcano of the West Bank has begun to rise from the ashes to take revenge on the occupation for all the crimes it has committed against the Palestinian people in the West Bank, Gaza, and throughout Palestine.”
The Hamas official also called for greater support for Palestinian villages and towns facing settler attacks, stressing the importance of strengthening popular mobilization to deter settlers and force them to halt their assaults.
