According to the information website of Alawi holy shrine, the competition has been organized by the Dar-ol-Quran affiliated to the Religious Affairs Section of the holy shrine.
The Imran bin Shahin Grand Mosque is hosting the Quranic event.
Mohammad Al-Rahimi, supervisor of the competition said that the committee which is due to organize the programs of the holy shrine for the holy month of Ramadan has cooperated in holding the competition.
Over 70 Quran reciters and memorizers of the country are participating in the competition, he said.
He added that the jury panel of the competition is chaired by Sheikh Mazar Al-Sahaf, expert in Quran recitation principles and judge of international Quran competitions.
The committee comprises Seyyed Qasim Al-Hulw, expert in Waqf and Ibtida principles, and Yahya Al-Sahaf, expert in Sowt and Lahn principles.
Al-Rahimi said that the competition is organized before the holy month of Ramadan every year with the aim of encouraging Iraqi Quran reciters and memorizers to participate in Quran recitation sessions held by the Dar-ol-Quran during the holy month.
Top Quran reciters and memorizers of the competition will be attending the third edition of the annual Quran reading session to be hosted by Abi Talib (AS) Section of holy shrine, as well as Quranic programs of mosques and religious centers in various parts of Najaf Province.
