A number of regional figures, clerics and local officials were present at the opening ceremony held after Friday prayers, Libanonfiles reported.
Addressing the event, Sheikh Zayd Zakariya, the Mufti of Akkar, underlined the importance of Quranic activities and said establishment of such centers help to promote the Quranic culture in society.
He added that the presence of followers of different Islamic schools of thought signified the unifying status of the Holy Quran among Muslims.
A number of Lebanese students recited verses from the Quran later in the ceremony.
Akkar is a district in the North Governorate, Lebanon and has a population of around 200,000.
