Speaking to IQNA, Reza Nezhad Tabrizi, who will compete for Iran in the international Quran award, said the organizing committee has informed him that he will sit for the initial test on the 13th day of Ramadan (July 11).
Nezhad Tabrizi said every contestant needs to take the preliminary test, which includes reciting 4 pages of the Quran by heart.
He further referred to the performance of other participants at the competition and said representatives of Afghanistan and Britain have been the best so far.
The international Holy Quran competition started at the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Saturday night, July 5.
A total of 87 contestants from different countries are attending the contest.
According to Ibrahim bu Melha, chairman of the organizing committee, the first winner of the competition will be awarded Dh250,000; the second Dh200,000, and the third Dh150,000.
