Inmates Learn Entire Quran by Heart

5 inmates in Qezelhesar Prison in Karaj, 25 kilometers west of Tehran, have managed to memorize the entire Holy Quran.

The five prisoners were recently honored in a ceremony, Rajabali Azhir, the prison's cultural deputy said, IRNA reported. He added that 200 other inmates have learned between one and 30 Juzes (sections) of the Holy Book. Azhir highlighted the Quranic and religious activities carried out in the penitentiary, saying that the inmates read the entire Quran in 50-strong groups every day. The official further underlined that acquaintance with the Book of God is the best way for moving on the path of perfection and salvation.
