Speaking in a cabinet session on Wednesday, Hojat-ol-Islam Rouhani referred to his meetings with leaders of European, African, Latin American and Asian countries in his recent trip to New York and said they all admitted that Iran plays a unique role in confronting terrorism and extremism.
He said all the leaders believed that if it had not been for the efforts made by the Islamic Republic, the situation in the region would have been much worse.
The president said the positive view about Iran in the world is because of the greatness of the Iranian nation, the guidelines of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution and the country’s moving in the right direction.
Heading a high-ranking delegation, President Rouhani visited New York last week to address the annual UN General Assembly.
During his visit to the UN, the president had a busy schedule with a host of meetings and speeches.
The 69th Session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 69) opened at UN Headquarters in New York on Tuesday, September 16. The General Debate began on Wednesday, September 24, and lasted until October 1.
