“Introduction to Islam” Courses Underway in Al-Azhar Mosque

Al-Azhar Mosque in Egypt has organized a series of courses in different languages to introduce Islam to non-Arabic speakers.

According to Al-Youm Al-Sabi’ newspaper, Islamic concepts and teachings are clarified during the courses for Muslim tourists,new converts to Islam and non-Arabic speakers travelling to Egypt.

Prominent scholars of Al-Azhar Islamic Center who master languages other than Arabic instruct the courses.

Principles of Islamic beliefs, jurisprudence, Sufism, Hadith, Tafseer (Quran interpretation), Seerah (the life of the Holy Prophet (PBUH)), Arabic language, Tajweed, religious doubts and important issues of the contemporary world are the themes of the courses.

Sheikh Hesamuddin Al-Azhari, Al-Azhar’s teacher of jurisprudence in English, said that it is the only mosque in the region which has organized such educational courses.

The mosque plans to hold scientific seminars for Western Muslims to get them more acquainted with Islam, he added.
