The Islamic Sciences and Propagation Center affiliated to Qatar’s Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Ministry will host the contest, al-Arab daily reported.
The competition is annually organized in the category of memorization at different levels for Qatari citizens and expatriates.
1460 Quran memorizers from different parts of the tiny Persian Gulf country will compete in the national Quranic event, which will run until December 1.
According to Nassir bin Yusuf al-Saliti, head of the organizing committee, the value of the awards has increased by almost 50 percent this year, “which indicates the government’s resolve to encourage the youth to learn and memorize the Quran”.
