In the Brunei-Muara district, the Khatam Al-Quran Ceremony was held at the Rimba II Primary School. More than three hundred seventy pupils took part in the ceremony.
Present was the Senior Special Duties Officer of the Private Education Section, Awg Zaman Hj Gapor.
In the Tutong district, the ceremony was held at the Penapar Primary School.
The ceremony was participated by more than eighty pupils from nineteen primary schools in the district.
Present was the Director of Curriculum Development Department, Hj Abd Rahman Hj Nawi.
In the Belait district, the Khatam Al-Quran Ceremony was held at the Muhamad Alam Primary School, Seria.
Forty one pupils from 10 primary school and 5 secondary school students took part in the ceremony. Present was the Director of Examination at the Ministry of Education, Dyg Hjh Kamlah Hj Daud.
Such a ceremony was also held in the Temburong district. The Khatam Al-Quran ceremony for fifty four pupils was held at the Rataie Primary School in Mukim Bokok.
The ceremony, among others, aimed to ensure all students were able to read Al-Quran properly, with tajweed and fluency as well as to make reading of Al-Quran a daily Zikir practice and guidance in life here in After.
Islam is Brunei's official religion, 67 percent of the population is Muslim, mostly Sunnis of Malay origin.
