Baha'ee Khorramshahi's Quran-delving Yields Once More
Literary group: "Critical Survey of Today's Persian Translations of Quran","Surveying Quran's Translation","I Yearn after a Human",and "From the Grass to the Star" are the titles of the recently-written books by Khorramshahi which will be published presently.
Iqna, reporting from News, stated that some new books by Khorramshahi are to be published soon.
Khorramshahi – author, translator, and Quran-scholar – talking to Fars cited: "Critical Survey of Today's Persian Translations of Quran", which compromises approximately 600 pages, surveys Quran's translations as old as that by Dr Elahi Ghomshe'ee, through those by translators like Ali Mousavi Garmarudi.
He added: I had intended to commence with the translations of the Mashrutiat era, nevertheless I could not find the translation I had in mind; i.e. that by Basir-al-Molk Sheybani. He was the first person to translate Quran non-verbatim. However, that by the late Dr Ghomshe'ee, mistakeful as it may be, is among the pioneering ones. This book is published by The Center of Foreign Language Translations of Quran.
He stated: At the time being I am translating a book for this center that is being published chapter by chapter in its magazine entitled "Translation of the Revelation". This book is named "Surveying Quran Translation" and deals with the theoretical impediments on the way of translating Quran's.
He added: In "I Yearn after a Human", I have culled 450 odes out of 3300 odes of The Divan of Shams, and I have attempted to have the beauty of ode while selecting it. "From the Grass to the Star" includes both essays and poems and is about 600 pages. In two parts of this book a collection of my poems indited in the past 45 years is included. I published a book of poems 35 years ago and up until recently I was not keen on doing it again. As Forugh Farrokhzad once said, harmony of words is a strange mystery and will not save poor thoughts. This book will be published by Ghatreh Publications.
This translator added: My translation of Quran has been published in various forms, but this time it has taken the form of footnotes. Many like to read Quran like this.
He concluded: I have written a series of essays called 'Kutaheh', to be published as of the following Thursday. I am also writing some essays for the festivals of 'Maftun Amini','Manuchehr Mortazavi' and 'Mohammad Ali Movahhed'.
