Holy Quran Ramadan Forum Opens in Dubai

-- The "Holy Quran Ramadan Forum" was inaugurated in Dubai on Wednesday by UAE’s Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development Abdul Rahman Bin Mohamed Al Owais.
Attended by writer Mohamed Al Mur, Head of Dubai Authority for Culture '&' Arts, Abdul Ghafaar Hussein, Abdul Shakoor Tuhlook, Executive Director for National Bank of Dubai, Bilal Al Bodoor, Executive Director for Cultural and Arts Affairs at the ministry and other officials, the Minister of Culture announced the launch of the forum with the word "In the name of God, most merciful most gracious".
In his speech at the opening ceremony, the Minister of Culture emphasized the role of the UAE in maintaining creativity and innovation especially calligraphy since its considered one of the most important Islamic arts. He also assured that opening the forum at such a date and time where 27th Ramadan is one of the best nights during the holy month.
Around 30 calligraphers from Syria, Iraq, Turkey, Algeria, Pakistan, Jordan, Egypt, Russia, Britain and UAE are participating in the event.
The calligraphers are to write a full copy of the holy Quran which will be preserved at the culture ministry's museum.
