-- The 28th edition of Quran contest of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps got underway yesterday, January 31 in Tehran.
It began with a ceremony held at the Ghadir Complex of IRGC’s Ground Forces. Hamzeh Zahedi recited verses from the holy Quran at the opening ceremony and then brigadier general Mohammad Ali Asudi, cultural deputy of the IRGC, gave a speech in which he stressed that in order for promoting spirituality, continuing on the late Imam Khomeini’s path, serving as the soldiers of Velayat and confronting the ‘soft war’, there is no other way than recourse to the holy Quran.
600 men from different IRGC forces are attending the contest in ten categories. The categories include Tahghigh and Tarteel recitation of the Quran, memorization (at five levels), Adhan (call to prayer), and interpretation of the Quran.
The jury panel of the contest is made up of 11 Quran scholars such as Master Farbin, Master Rezaeeyan, Master Zakilu and Hojat-ol-Islam Sayyed Mohammad Javad Musavi Darche’i.
The Quran competition for women staff of the IRGC was also held in Tehran last week with the participation of 200 Quran reciters and memorizers.
