Speaking at a meeting with members of Basij Artists Organization that was held on April 8, Seyyed Mohammad Hosseini, minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, commemorated the memory of Martyr Morteza Avini, Iranian author and filmmaker, adding: “Basij (Volunteer Forces) is an influential association whose profound effects can be further promoted in all spheres and the organization can have more effective reflections in society.”
Appreciating art as an essential element in man’s nature, he said: “The artistic aspect of the Holy Quran lies in its lofty themes and teachings as well as its beautiful form which attracts all to the Divine Word.”
“God is the first artist whose art of creation is manifested throughout the universe,” he went on to say, referring to Martyr Avini’s statement regarding the perfect art as being concerned with God and His Divine art, free from all earthly attachments.
The Holy Quran is a Divine manifestation of art that is both lofty in its content and fascinating in its beautiful form.
“On the contrary, Western art is more inclined toward worldly desires and used to serve the goals of unjust rulers and oppressors,” he added.
“Proper presentation of artistic works will not only attract the people in the country but will also be appealing to other people in the world and can, therefore, introduce Islam and Islamic art in an appropriate manner.”
“The Islamic Republic of Iran is widely known in the international community through its art and culture,” he went on to say, urging the Iranian artists to try to influence those who are not much acquainted with our country via their artistic works.
He further expressed hopes that there would be more improvements in Iran’s cultural and artistic fields during the current year.
