Headed by the country’s foreign minister, the delegation arrived in the Libyan capital of Tripoli later on Saturday, Al-Minar website reported.
The trip is mainly aimed at discussing the latest findings of the new Libyan administration about Imam Musa Sadr and his two companions, who entered Libya 32 years ago and were never again heard of.
The Lebanese delegation also plans to discuss bilateral ties with Libya. Relations between the two countries were sour under former Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi, who is believed to have abducted Sadr and his companions during their 1978 trip to Tripoli.
Since the beginning of Libya’s popular uprising, which led to the overthrow of the Gaddafi regime, there have been conflicting reports as to what has happened to Sadr and his companions, but none of the reports have been verified yet.
