Kuwait Int’l Quran Contest Kicks Off

The 3rd edition of “Kuwait Holy Quran Award” international contest on memorization, recitation and Tajweed of the Holy Quran will kick off today, April 11.
According to Al-Ray newspaper, the competition is held under the supervision of Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad, Amir of Kuwait.
Mohammad Javad Mohammadi Majd, memorizer of the entire Quran from Khuzestan Province and Reza Golshahi, top Iranian Qari, have been dispatched to Kuwait to attend the contest.
This edition of the contest will be attended by representatives from 46 Islamic countries as well as Russia, Central Africa, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia.
Khalid Abu Ghaith, director of the Office for Quranic Affairs in Kuwait and member of the Supreme Committee of the contest said that: “The participants will compete with each other in various categories including memorization of the entire Quran, Tajweed, recitation,Tajweed and the Best Technology for Serving the Holy Quran.”
He concluded that members of the jury panel of the contest have been selected by head of the Supreme Committee of the contest.
It is worth mentioning that the top winners will be awarded 114 thousand Kuwaiti Dinars.
