Titled ‘Religion and Ethics’, the meeting aimed to clarify Islam’s ethical approaches in the realms of society, politics and international relations, IQNA’s ICRO branch reported.
Speaking at the event, Mohammad Reza Dehshiri, education and research deputy of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization said Divine faiths are the forerunners in the field of ethics.
He underlined that ethical values form the basis of religious thought and the mission of religions.
Dehshiri said that Islam emerged in a society which was filled with superstitious, fictitious and deviated thoughts. “[before the advent of Islam] It was a society in which moral values were on the verge of collapse, one imprisoned by corruption.”
He said the Holy Prophet of Islam (PBUH) made it his main mission to promote ethical values, along with enhancing monotheistic beliefs and clarifying Islamic rules.
Dehshiri also stressed that morality is one of the pillars of Islam.
He went on to say that the idea of “the end justifies the means” is not acceptable in Islam at all as the life of the Holy prophet (PBUH), the Infallibles (AS), and virtuous figures like Imam Khomeini (RA) shows this.
The 5th round of religious dialogue between Iranian Muslim scholars and Catholic scholars from the Philippines was organized by the ICRO’s Interfaith Dialogue Center in cooperation with Iran’s Cultural Center in the Philippines.
