Concurrent with the 25th anniversary of the launching of Zagreb Mosque in Zagreb, Croatia, the 18th scientific congress of “Islam in Europe, Status and Perspective” is underway in the city.
It opened on Thursday, April 19, and will conclude on Saturday, IQNA’s ICRO branch reported.
Scholars and experts from different countries have presented papers at the congress on issues like Islam’s influences on Europe, political presence of Muslims in Europe, and future of Muslims in Europe: coexistence, challenges and perspectives.
Titles of some other papers submitted to the congress include: ‘Islamic Cultural Centers and Muslim Integration in European Societies’, ‘Tolerance in Islamic Culture’, ‘Islam and Europe; Common Experiences and Future’, and ‘Islam in Germany: from Isolation to Institutionalization’.
Currently some 53 million Muslims live in different European countries and the number is rising due to migration and new conversions.
