Car Race Intensified Bahrain’s Crisis
Friday prayer leader of Manama, capital of Bahrain, said the Al-e Khalifa regime intensified the crisis in the country by ratcheting up pressure and stepping up clampdown on protesters during the Formula 1 race.
Addressing worshippers at Imam Sadeq (AS) Mosque on Friday, Ayatollah Sheikh Issa Qassem said the regime has adopted a crazy approach by extending security measures and continuing to kill people.
“They now intend to kill the arrested rights activist Abdulhadi al-Khawaja.”
He said that insistence on killing al-khawajaunder sever torture, while his only ‘crime’ is using his right to free expression, is but one example of how the regime disregards people’s rights.
Ayatollah Sheikh Issa Qassem reiterated that by spreading fear, attacking homes, using violence and arresting citizens, the regime will not be able to restore stability to the country.
He also censured the world’s silence over the atrocities committed by Al-e Khalifa regime against the peace-seeking nation of Bahrain.
