Addressing the international conference of ‘Religion and Present-day Awakening’ in Tehran on Monday, Bawa Jain added that political institutions are also influential in shaping the movements but ultimately it is religious leaders who are the most influential in makings strategic decisions.
He pointed to the present-day awakening in the world, especially in the Arab world and in the US (the Occupy Wall-Street Movement) and asked ‘Why have religious leaders remained silent? Why have they shown no reactions? Are they unaware of the depth of the issue or are they under pressure from somewhere?”
Jain regretted that many of the world’s religious leaders are unaware of the massive tide of awakening in the world, saying that if the youth who have risen up do not get answers from religious leaders, there will be an uncertain future awaiting them and the movements.
Secretary general of World Council of Religious Leaders highlighted the influential role of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution in guiding the present-day Islamic awakening and asked that Ayatollah Khamenei draw the path for the movement.
“He [the Supreme Leader] is not only a powerful leader for the Iranian nation but a unique and well-known person in the world,” Jain said.
The international conference of ‘Religion and Present-day Awakening’ began Monday morning in Tehran, with an opening speech delivered by head of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization Mohammad Baqer Khorramshad.
