Arbaeen Mourning Ceremony Held in Presence of Supreme Leader

A mourning ceremony was held Thursday in the presence of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Imam Khamenei to mark Arbaeen.
Arbaeen is the anniversary of the 40th day after the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS) and his 72 companions in the battle of Karbala.
Attending the Thursday mourning ceremony at Imam Khomeini (RA) religious center in Tehran were different groups of university students.
It started with recitation of the Quran, followed by a speech delivered by Hojat-ol-Islam Rafiei. He read part of the Arbaeen supplication and elaborated on the objectives of the Ashura uprising.
After the speech, elegies were read and the mourners beat their chest lamenting the martyrdom of the third Imam (AS) and his companions.
The program concluded by saying Zuhr and Asr prayers led by Imam Khamenei.
