Leader of Bargains’ Shia Muslims said that by proposing dialogue, the Al-e Khalifa regime seeks to eschew fulfilling people’s demands.
Ayatollah Sheikh Issa Ghasem made the remark in his Friday prayer sermon on February 22, adding that the regime calls for dialogue on the one hand and does its best to ruin dialogue on the other, Sawt Al-Manama website reported.
“If we want dialogue or negotiations, what is the purpose behind it? It is aimed at securing the demands of the elites and the ordinary people? If that is the case, then there needs to be a referendum,” he underlined.
He also said that the parties to dialogue with the Al-e Khalifa regime have not been selected by the people of the country.
To those who reject selection of the government through referendum, he said, “How dare you try to decide on behalf of the people? (What you do) means you consider your view as the view of all people and that they should not vote for their life and their fate. This is unreasonable.”
Sheikh Issa Ghasem stressed that the nation has made many sacrifices for realization of dignity and that thousands of Bahraini citizens have been detained for achieving their objectives not for giving their affairs over to the regime.
