An understanding to this effect was reached at a ceremony held at the AIOU main campus. The meeting was presided over by AIOU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Nazir Ahmed Sangi. Gomal University Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Ahmed Mansoor Kundi and IIUI Vice President Dr. Mumtaz Ahmed were also present on the occasion.
The center, to be set up during the next financial year, will provide a solid platform for propagating Islamic teaching, enabling young people to address socio-economic challenges being faced by Muslims today.
It would work to revive the leading and progressive role of Islamic Ummah, as well as to restore Islamic culture and civilization. The two universities will also collaborate to form research groups on Islamic thoughts.
Addressing the ceremony, Dr. Sangi said that the AIOU was constantly engaged in spreading the message of Quran and Sunnah through its various programs from primary to higher level. The AIOU, he said, is a unique institution in the Islamic world for educating people through advanced technology and distance learning system. The network of the proposed center will also be extended to Islamic countries of the Middle East, he added.
