His Eminence made the statement on Wednesday in a meeting with the president of Burundi and his accompanying delegation.
The Supreme Leader in this meeting stressed the Islamic Republic of Iran’s positive outlook vis-à-vis Africa.
Imam Khamenei referred to the hostile measures by some European countries as well as the United States in colonizing African countries and conspiring and making seditions in these countries.
His Eminence hoped a better future and more achievements for Africa, including Burundi.
The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution further welcomed the expansion of ties between Iran and Burundi.
His Eminence also underlined that the African Union can be a center of strength for all African countries and that the Islamic Republic of Iran supports further convergence in the union.
In this meeting, in which Present Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was also present, the Burundian head of state, Pierre Nkurunziza, referred to the 28-year-long history of relations between the two countries and said his visit to Tehran was aimed at reinvigorating bilateral relations.
He also referred to the sufferings resulted from colonization in Africa, stressing that African countries, including Burundi, seek a better future.
