Behaving in accordance with Quranic morality is one of the characteristics required for any Quran instructor.
This is according to Mohammad Mehdi Bahrololum , executive affairs deputy of the Dar-ol-Quran Karim Organization, who, in an interview with IQNA, added that mastery over the educational material, ability to convey Quranic concepts and good class management are among other features a Quran instructor needs to posses.
Quran instructors should be selected from among those who have leaned from the Quran themselves, he underlined.
Behaving in accordance with Quranic ethics is a major condition for Quran teachers, he said, adding that those selected to teach the Quran should also have mastery over what they teach.
Bahrololum noted that taking part in Quran teachers training courses helps the teachers improve their teaching skills but part of the skills are acquired through years as the teacher gets more and more experienced.
He also said that teaching the Quran to children is different from teaching the Holy Book to adults and, therefore, teachers who teach children should be different from those who teach Quranic courses to adults.
Elsewhere in his remarks, deputy of the Dar-ol-Quran Karim Organization described the skils of teachers who work in the country’s Quranic institutes as good, saying, however, that there is still a long way to go before reaching an ideal status.
He said the Islamic Development Organization and the Education Ministry have implemented plans to improve the skills of Quran teachers and that more should be done in this regard.
Bahrololum went on to urge Quran teachers to study more and make more efforts to improve their Quran teaching capabilities.
