The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has strongly condemned Monday’s twin bombing at the Boston Marathon that killed three people and injured more than 170 others.
In a statement on Tuesday, OIC Secretary General Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu called the bombings an act of terrorism.
He added that "such actions targeting an event are cowardly and reprehensible."
Meanwhile, Abdelatif Zayani, the secretary general of the (Persian) Gulf Cooperation Council ([P]GCC), also denounced "cowardly terrorist acts that go against all values and principles."
Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates are members of the [P]GCC.
Local media reports called into question a “Saudi national” who was injured in the incident, saying that he is being questioned by authorities at a hospital.
