30 Countries to Send Representatives to Int’l Quran Competition for Women

30 countries have announced readiness to send their representatives to the 8th International Quran Competition for Women in Jordan.
Muhammad Al-Qadhat, Jordan’s Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, made the remark, adding that 42 countries had been invited o take part in the Quranic event, Al-Anbat daily reported.
He said the remaining countries have up to the end of this week to announce whether they will send their representatives.
According to the Jordanian official, women Quran experts in the fields of recitation and Tajweed will form the jury panel of the competition, and there will be scholars from Arab and Islamic countries to supervise the contest.
Jordan’s 8th International Quran Competition for Women will kick off at the beginning of the lunar calendar month of Rajab (May 22).
It will be held in the categories of Quran memorization (at three levels), recitation and Tafsir (interpretation).
Hakimeh Nasiri, memorizer of the entire Holy Quran, will represent the Islamic Republic of Iran at the competition.
The men’s section of the international contest, the 21st edition, is slated to be held in the middle of the holy month of Ramadan (July).
Iran’s contender in the men’s section will be memorizer of the entire Quran Mohammad Khakpour.
Winners of the international competition will be awarded a total of 170,000 Jordanian dinars by the country’s Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Ministry.
