According to IQNA’s branch in Central Asia, Akmaluddin Ihsan Oglu, OIC Secretary General told APA news agency that organization of the conference was discussed earlier at a meeting with Azerbaijan’s president and its minister of foreign affairs.
He said that Azerbaijan's government has proposed to hold the program, which will result in an increase in the role of the country at the Organization of Islamic Conference.
The official also noted that since 2006, the year when he was assigned OIC Secretary General, five meetings with the participation of ministers of OIC members have been held in Azerbaijan.
