This was announced by the country’s Minister of Transportation and General Affairs Sediq Mia who said the university will be set up with the aim of developing modern education among Muslims.
It will also pave the ground for developing Islamic educations among those interested in Islamic sciences, he said.
Mia, who is also the vice-president of Malawi’s Muslims Union, added that there are plans for allocating budgets for establishing Islamic schools.
Sediq Mia said they will be run under the supervision of Manguchi mosque.
He further called on the country’s Muslims to help to spread Islam and contribute to the improvement of their fellow- Muslims in Malawi.
Malawi is a small country in East Africa in which Islam is the second largest religion. It is estimated that Muslims make up some 13 percent of the country’s population.
