Human values such as love, compassion, tolerance and mercy form the basis of the Holy Prophet’s (PBUH) school and mission, a Syrian scholar said.
Speaking to IQNA, Sheikh Abdul-Rahman Ali Zil’e added that the Wahabis’ move to issue Fatwas to kill people and destroy holy sites runs counter to the school of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).
He said such Fatwas and such extremists actions by Wahabis are totally against the Nabawi (PBUH) teachings.
“This group of Wahabis havs taken a path different from the school of the Holy Prophet (PBUH),” he underlined.
The president of the “Center for Islamic Unity Studies in the Levant” also referred to the situation in Syria and said , “Today, there is a better situation in the Arab Republic of Syria than some think because Al-Qaeda and their affiliates and those criminals who had come to Syria in the name of democracy and freedom have been forced out of the country.”
Elsewhere in his remarks, the Syrian scholar referred to the World Conference of Ulama and Islamic Awakening, which was recently held in Tehran, and said the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Imam Khamenei’s speech at the opening of the conference showed to the Arab world and the West that Islam is not a radical and racist religion.
Sheikh Ali Zil’e was asked about the difference between the Islamic Awakening movement and the armed rebellion in Syria, to which he said Islamic Awakening is a blessed movement whereas the terrorist activities of the rebels in Syria are based on extremism, bloodshed and killing, which have no place in Islam.
He underlined the need for Islamic unity in order to defend the truth against falsehood and said despite attempts by the Zionist regime to spread discord in the Muslim world, the conference of Ulama and Islamic Awakening demonstrated the unity of the Islamic Ummah.
Sheikh Ali Zil’e further highlighted the role of Muslim scholars in the current sensitive conditions in the Muslim world and said by fulfilling their responsibilities, Muslim scholars will elevate their status in society.
