Bahrain’s Shia leader Ayatollah Sheikh Issa Ghassem condemned the desecration of the grave of Hujr Ibn Uday in Syria.
In his Friday prayer sermon in Manama’s Imam Sadeq (AS) Mosque on May 10, he slammed Wahabi extremists move to exhume the grave of the Holy Prophet’s (PBUH) Sahabi (companion) and said such actions are tantamount to declaring war on the Divine Sharia (religion).
He underlined that Hujr was an important and influential figure in early Islam and a patient, courageous Mujahid who was committed to religious values.
Wahabi extremists desecrated the grave of Hujr Ibn Uday in the suburbs of Damascus, Syria, earlier this month. The militants attacked the mausoleum and exhumed the grave of Hujr ibn Adi and took his remains to an unknown location.
Ayatollah Ghassem described such acts of sacrilege as very dangerous and said they will could open the doors of bloodshed to the ignorant.
Elsewhere in his sermon, the Bahraini cleric pointed to the Al-e Khalifa regime’s crackdown on the popular movement of Bahrain, saying that the regime seeks to eliminate the movement by resorting to imprisonment and other radical punishments.
