“Religious Heritage of Tatarstan” Forum in Kazan

A national forum on “Religious Heritage of Tatarstan” was held today, May 12, by the Islamic University of Russia in Kazan, the capital of Tatarstan.
According to IQNA’s branch in Europe, the program was organized to commemorate Shahabuddin Marjani, an eminent scholar and great Muslim figure of Tatarstan in the past century.
Scholars, intellectuals, clerics, academic figures and seminary lecturers and students attended the program, which was organized in cooperation with the Office for Muslims’ Religious Affairs in Tatarstan.
Heidar Qarib Evlin, director of Education Section of the office said that the program was organized to encourage Muslim youth in Tatarstan to study about religious and spiritual heritage of their republic and to introduce the history and status of Islam in this country.
