The ministry’s Quran, Prayer and Etrat deputy Mohammad Reza Mossayebzadeh made the remark in an interview with IQNA, adding that the purpose has not been only to present statistics.
He said the ministry is implementing the plan for the second consecutive year this year, adding that the Supreme Council of the Holy Quran has helped to pave the way for implementation of the plan in the country.
Mossayebzadeh also referred to fostering of the Quranic culture as another objective of the national Quranic plan.
He noted that 16 percent of the country’s school students and 4 percent of the ministry staff have signed up to benefit from the plan.
According to the official, the Education Ministry had launched 10,000 Quran schools in different parts of the country prior to the start of the plan.
He said in order to better carry out the plan, 5000 Quran teachers have been trained and recruited by the ministry this year.
“In addition, a series of books titled ‘Quran, The Everlasting Miracle’ have been published,” he stated.
Mossayebzadeh went on to say that around 1,057,000 students and education ministry personnel who took the courses held within the plan’s framework have learned between half Juz (part) to 30 Juzes of the Quran by heart.
