Quranic Life Means Contemplating the Truth
The Quranic meaning of life includes responsibilities that distinguish man from other beings, a Quranic scholar said.
Addressing the 17th Congress for Commemorating Mulla Sadra, Ayatollah Seyyed Mohammad Khamenei added that in this sense, the ability to discern the truth is a distinguishing characteristic for human beings.
Titled “Philosophy and Way of Life” the congress was held on Wednesday morning at Adineh Center in Tehran with the participation of scholars, thinkers and researchers.
Ayatollah Seyyed Mohamamd Khamenei said the issue of “life” is an important issue for humanity and for philosophers as well.
He referred to verse 24 of Surah Anfal, “O you who have believed, respond to Allah and to the Messenger when he calls you to that which gives you life; And know that Allah intervenes between a man and his heart and that to Him you will be gathered,” and said human’s life has two dimensions, one that is shared with other living being and one which entails responsibilities and distinguishes him from other beings.
Also addressing the conference was Allameh Tabatabaee University professor Ghassem Hassanpoor who described the theme of the program, “Philosophy and Way of Life”, as a very important subject that needs to be taken seriously.
