This is according to Mahmoud Momtza, pilgrims deputy of the custodian of the holy shrine, who said more than 80,000 people had registered to attend the spiritual event but only 4000 can take part in the ritual at the holy shrine.
He said from the 4005 individuals accepted for attending the program, 1891 are men and 2114 are women.
“3648 of them are Iranian nationals and the rest, 457, are from other countries, Mr. Momtaz added.
He noted that registration had started on April 4 and continued until April 25.
Meanwhile, the public relations officer of the Supreme Leader’s representative office in Qom’s universities said that this year some 1200 university professors and students will take part in I’tikaf programs.
