According to Noon news agency, the program was organized under the supervision of Al-Ghura Institte for Islamic Teachings.
Addressing the forum, Sheikh Ali Najafi, son of Grand Ayatollah Sheikh Bashir Najafi, Iraqi Shia source of emulation, said that Iraq needs unity and solidarity today to be able to stand against enemies.
Hojat-ol-Islam Seyyed Sadruddin Qubanchi, Friday prayer leader in the holy city of Najaf, also said that the forum is an attempt to collect various viewpoints of religious scholars, university lecturers and activists in order to disseminate the culture of unity among Iraqi people to fight terrorism and extremism.
Sheikh Khaled Al-Mualla, head of the Assembly of Sunni Scholars in Southern part of Iraq, was another speaker at the program who noted that it is wajib (compulsory) for religious scholars to take a real Islamic stance that is not affected by political matters.
