Representatives of 75 Countries Expected at Iran’s 30th Int’l Quran Contest

Representatives of 75 countries from 4 continents will take part in the Islamic Republic of Iran’s 30th International Quran Competition.
Head of the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization Hojat-ol-Islam Ali Mohammadi made the announcement in a press conference on Monday, adding that the competition will be held in Tehran from May 31 to June 7.
He referred to promoting the Quran as a significant religious, political, and social issue, using the expertise of Quran scholars and masters from Islamic and non-Islamic countries, creating a Quranic atmosphere in the society and abroad, and promoting fraternity and unity among Muslims in the world as some of the objectives of the competition.
Hojat-ol-Islam Mohammadi said 75 countries, 27 from Asia, 27 from Africa, 16 from Europe, and 5 from America, have announced readiness to send their representatives to the contest.
Iran’s representatives are from the provinces of Kerman and West Azarbaijan, the official noted.
He said there will be several programs on the sidelines of the contest, including a congress for honoring women Quran activists and a Quranic research seminar.
The seminar’s secretariat has received 500 papers from Iranian and foreign scholars and researcher, he stated, adding that the top papers will be selected and awarded at the closing ceremony of the competition.
According to Hojat-ol-Islam Mohammadi, organizing specialized educational courses, visits to different places such as the Holy Defense Museum, pilgrimage trip to the holy city of Mashhad and meeting with the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution will be among other programs for the contestants on the sidelines of the competition.
He went on to say that the opening ceremony of the international competition will be held on Friday afternoon, May 31, and the closing ceremony will be held on Friday, June 7, at Tehran's Summit Conference
