Head of the Quranic Affairs Center of the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization described Iran’s International Holy Quran Competition as a symbol of Iranians’ devotion to the Quran.
According to the information dissemination committee of the competition, Vali Yarahmadi said the contest was first held after the victory of the Islamic Revolution and continued throughout years despite problems like the Iraqi-imposed war.
He said Iran’s contest is the greatest Quranic event in the Muslim world. “There are similar contests such as the Malaysian International Quran Award and Saudi Arabia’s International Quran Competition, but Iran’s event is superior in terms of quality according to Iranian and foreign Quran activists.”
Yarahmadi referred to the significant presence of Quran devotees as one of the main features of Iran’s contest, saying that last year a large number of people attended the venue where the competition was held.
He also said 68 countries took part in Iran’s International Quran Competition last year, which is considered a world record.
Yarahmadi noted that the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization holds the contest but its blessings benefit the whole country.
He went on to say that with the cooperation of the servants of the Quran and institutions like the IRIB, the Islamic Republic of Iran’s International Quran Competition has improved year after year but still needs to improve.
