Winner of the top title in Iran’s 30th International Holy Quran Competition said attending Quran recitation sessions would help internationally-acclaimed Qaris retain their readiness.
Speaking to IQNA, Vahid Vakili called on Quranic officials to organize official Quranic sessions to help Qaris maintain their recitation skills.
Referring to this year’s international Quran contest, in which he came first in the recitation category, Vakili described the level of contestants in this category as high and said like previous years, there were five top performances.
He said Egypt’s representative, about whom there had been much expectation, did not show a very good performance but the Iraqi and Indonesian Qaris appeared very good.
Vakili further talked about requiremnets for becoming a good Qari, saying those who want to enter the field of Quran recitation should first make efforts to find a good master.
“It is said that if one spends half of his life searching for a good master, it is worth the effort,” he said adding that those who want to become good Qaris, should be meticulous in choosing a master.
Asked about his future plans, Vakili said he wants to further elevate his level of recitation and develop his Quranic knowledge.
He concluded by thanking his Quran masters in West Azerbaijan province, including Ayari, Mirghelich, Solati and Hosseinzadeh, as well as his masters in Tehran such as Abolghassemi.
The 30th International Quran Competition of the Islamic Republic of Iran was held in Tehran from May 30 to June 7 with the participation of Quran reciters and memorziers from over 0 countries.
